The central topic of the 3D scenes series is the placing and deforming of objects, models or groups of objects in other and strange surroundings. In these the object is the most important and not the surroundings, the material (texture) on the object, the setting or landscape, sky and horizon, only add to completeness of the scene. In the case of 'Pas de Moules' (No Mussels) it started with placing a simple oval which suddenly got a complete other identity after covering it with a texture and making a group with several others. Placing them at sea on low tide, turning and changing some of the members of the group and suddenly they looked like Easter eggs. The silhouette of the Jeep with the very hot rising burning sun in an unnatural open plane or desert is not really natural or realistic, but has a surreal futuristic element in it. The 'Open House' is inspired on Esscher. |
There is a definite pleasure in focussing on a 3D object and placing it on empty planes or silent waters with an adjusted sky. Some could be strange and modern sculptures on a far away planet, suddenly appearing or popping out of the landscape. The possibilities are unlimited, any object can be used, changed and given another identity. |
